New Septics or Repairs

Septic Installations and Repairs

Septic systems are incredibly important to any house or building, so you should choose someone who has the know how, experience, and equipment to get the job done perfectly.  At Helger Bros, we can remove, install, or repair a septic tank for residential or commercial buildings. So we are a one stop shop to improve your septic system.

As with all of our jobs, it starts with a consultation and engineered plan from Jesse. His know-how and experience allows him to create this plan which recommends the right septic system for every customer as there is a wide range to choose from.  To make this decision we look at: average water usage, the size of the building or home, and local regulations. We do this research to make it an easier decision for you, as we know this can be a stressful time.

After the installation, removal, or repair is finished, we offer to top off the area with hydroseed so it’s like we were never there.

Elevation

Once an engineered plan has been drawn up, we begin the working on the elevation.  Starting where the main drain exits the foundation, there has to be a downward slope to the pipes.  We measure and lay out our elevations with laser levels.

Trenching

During the trenching, we follow the plan and guides that we have laid out carefully so the area is disturbed only where necessary. During the trenching, we periodically check the elevations to make sure we are still on target.  The final step is putting down a bedding material, typically sand or gravel to support the pipes.

Piping

All pipes are installed one part at a time and double checked before doing any permanent moves.  We use PVC pipes joined together with gasketed fittings or solvent glues which is the modern norm compared to old metal pipes which rust out.  Generally, we suggest a pipe size of 4” for residential lines, but follow local codes if they differ.

Septic Installation

Before all the pipes are in place, we begin to install the rest of the septic system.  Most times it is a septic tank and leaching field. The concrete tank is perfectly lined up to the guides with the help of a crane.  We install the tank and the pipes at the same time because it will be easier to slightly adjust the pipes than it will be to adjust the tank to have them line up.

Backfilling

Once all of these steps have been completed, we can do the final step of backfilling.  This is carefully filling in all of the trenches and holes that we have created, making sure to fill in around the pipes and tanks and then compacting it all.
