Pruning or trimming a tree is the most common form of tree maintenance.  Trees on residential lots especially need pruning to maintain their health and integrity while also maintaining the safety of the surrounding area.  Pruning or trimming a tree can keep it away from a building or power line which with overgrowth would require it to be removed.
